Occupational Health Physician

Thomas Luna, MD, MPH, FACOEM, FASMA Dr. Luna has been with Work Health since 2017, working at our Portland clinic.

He attended college at the University of Vermont and medical school at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, in Bethesda, Maryland. He earned a Master of Public Health from the University of Texas Health Science Center, Houston.  He has been practicing both aerospace medicine and occupational medicine since 1990. 

He completed residencies in both aerospace and occupational medicine at the U. S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine while he served in the Air Force. While there he became board certified in aerospace medicine in 1996 and in occupational medicine one year later, in 1997.

As a military flight surgeon, he accumulated over 1250 flying hours in over 18 different aircraft, including bombers, fighters, helicopters, trainers, tankers, transports and reconnaissance aircraft. He says, “My most memorable flight was in a U2, up to operational altitude, seeing the curvature of the earth and stars breaking through the darkening sky above me.”

He runs, and sometimes bikes, to and from the clinic. He also enjoys backpacking, Nordic skiing, canoeing, kayaking, camping, and making music.
